Dear Dean Hazeltine,

Happy 75th Birthday! It is a pleasure and an honor to be able to pay tribute to you and all you have done for the thousands of students who have had the great fortune of having you as a teacher, mentor and friend. I consider myself very lucky to be in such a circle. Taking your classes and serving as one of your teaching assistants for a couple of years were truly special opportunities and something I look back on with great fondness and gratitude.

I always smile when I think of your saying to me or someone else in your class, "Are we still friends?" or "You look nice today." You always knew the right time to say or ask such things and even more important, you were always sincere and caring. You provided encouragement and inspiration to me and countless others and for that I am truly grateful.

I always look forward to my annual return to campus because more often than not over the past 20 years, it has included touching base with you. Thanks for all you have done for me and for the thousands of other students whose lives you've touched. All the best to you and your family as you celebrate this birthday milestone. Brown couldn't be luckier to have you!

All my best,
