Dear Dean Hazeltine,

First, let me say I regret that I did not take EN 9, especially since I ended up in an entrepreneurial career. You well recognize that the Brown curriculum tends to encourage entrepreneurship; there is a surprising number of Brown graduates who end up trying to do their own thing.

To some, it makes all of us insufferable; but we are what we are as the song goes. You should take full credit for encouraging us in those endeavors, and, of course, take some of the blame for our "insufferableness," if that is a word; in any case we can invent the word, right?

Instead of taking EN 9, we met because of your interest in the crew. We did well in my years and it was always great to have your support. Thank you, Barrett, for your gentle, always positive and supportive manner, and your legacy to all of us!
