Dear Dean Hazeltine,

I wish you a very, very happy birthday, and send you my respect, admiration, and thanks. Twenty years after first meeting you and having the privilege to be a class member and later a TA, I still remember with fondness and appreciation just what a wonderful educator and role model you were. Your caring for your students and subject matter was truly inspirational, and your willingness and ability to always be available to help steer people down a good path is something that I can only aspire to achieve.

You truly have touched so many people, in such a positive way. I thank you for personally improving my life, and in a larger sense, for improving our collective world.

All the best on your birthday and all your future endeavors!
