It hardly seems possible that you are 75 years young. How can that be when I am only 39 myself? Whatever the number, you are still just a young guy in my thoughts.

It has been a distinct pleasure and privilege knowing you over the years. You are a GREAT guy! Your quick wit, self-deprecating style and sage counsel have been invaluable to Brown and the multitude of students who have passed through your classroom door over the years. I have been a specific witness to your results—your mentoring of my son, Conrad, has helped transform him into the successful young man he is today.

One testament to the high esteem in which you are held were the many, many students and faculty members who came to honor you at the Independent Award Dinner. Only "THE Barrett Hazeltine" could overshadow Bill Cosby.

Stay well, my friend. There are many more students who would be ill-served if they never had the experience of having Barrett Hazeltine as a professor. Best wishes to you, Barrett, on your 75th birthday.
