Dear Dean Hazeltine,

On this milestone occasion for you, I am privileged to join many others in sending my greetings and expression of gratitude. It must be very satisfying for you to reflect on the number of individuals you have so positively influenced as an educator, counselor and friend.

When I think of Brown, I fondly recall not only my classmates, but also your wonderfully empathetic approach to educating us. For many of us steeped in relatively prosaic liberal arts studies, your approach to EN 9 helped orient us to many of the practical considerations we would later face.

I will keep this short because I know that you have a lot of messages to read. You have no shortage of admirers! You are one of the people who made my Brown experience so fulfilling and I will always be grateful for that. Thank you very much, Barrett! I wish you a most happy 75th birthday and many, many more to come.

Yours truly,
